Talor Gooch Secures Fourth LIV Golf Title at Andalucia in 2025

Gooch's Triumphant Return to Valderrama

In a stunning display of skill and resilience, Talor Gooch of Smash GC clinched his fourth individual LIV Golf title at the LIV Golf Andalucía event held at Real Club Valderrama in San Roque, Spain, on July 13. Gooch, who previously won the league's Individual Championship in 2023, turned a commanding four-shot lead after two rounds into a narrow one-shot victory, finishing with scores of 69-66-70. This win marks his second triumph at Valderrama in three years, solidifying his dominance at this challenging course.

'That's a pretty cool stat. I didn't know I had the most trophies on LIV,' Gooch remarked after his victory, highlighting his impressive record of 13 LIV trophies, which includes four individual titles, seven team wins, and two season-long crowns. His final round of 1-under 70 was just enough to hold off a fierce challenge from Legion XIII Captain Jon Rahm, who shot a remarkable 6-under 65, tying for the day's lowest round with Ripper GC's Matt Jones.

Intense Competition and Team Success

The final day of LIV Golf Andalucía was marked by intense competition, particularly between Gooch and Rahm. With one hole left for Rahm and two for Gooch, including the par-5 17th, the scores were tied at 7-under. However, Gooch managed to find the fairway off the tee on the 18th, landing his approach shot on the fringe to set up a winning two-putt. 'I just can't describe how special it is to beat Rahmbo,' Gooch said, acknowledging the significance of outlasting the local favorite in front of a passionate Spanish crowd.

While Gooch celebrated his individual success, Jon Rahm had reason to rejoice as well. His team, Legion XIII, shot 5-under for the week to secure the team title, narrowly edging out Fireballs GC, who finished at 3-under. This victory marked Legion XIII's third team title of the season, a significant achievement for Rahm in his home country.

Behind the Victory: Gear and Grit

Gooch's performance at Valderrama was underpinned by meticulous preparation and top-tier equipment. His bag included a Titleist GT3 driver with a 9-degree loft and a Mitsubishi Tensei 1K White 60 X shaft, a Callaway Epic 3-Wood with a 15-degree loft, and a mix of Srixon ZX7 Mk2 and Callaway irons. His wedge setup featured Callaway Opus SP models with lofts of 46, 52, 56, and 60 degrees, showcasing the precision tools that helped him navigate the demanding course.

Reflecting on his journey, Gooch emphasized the hard work behind his return to the winner's circle. 'It's been two years of a lot of hard work, a lot of time put into this craft and a lot of blood, sweat and tears shed to get back here,' he shared. His patience and dedication paid off spectacularly at Valderrama, a venue that has now become synonymous with his LIV Golf success.
