Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman's Epic Journey in 'Long Way Home'

Setting Off on a New Adventure

Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman, longtime friends and adventure enthusiasts, have embarked on yet another thrilling journey in their latest series, 'Long Way Home,' now streaming on Apple TV+. This time, the duo sets out from McGregor's home in Scotland, aiming to reach Boorman's residence in England, but not by the shortest route. Instead, they opt for an extensive loop covering over 10,000 miles through more than 15 countries, taking them across the North Sea to Scandinavia, up to the Arctic Circle, and back down through the Baltics and continental Europe.

Their choice of transportation adds a nostalgic twist to the adventure, as they ride restored vintage motorcycles. This 10-episode series captures not only the stunning landscapes and challenging roads but also their deep camaraderie. As McGregor shared in an interview, 'It's always about the journey with Charley; the bikes just make it more fun.'

Immersing in Cultures Across Continents

Throughout 'Long Way Home,' McGregor and Boorman immerse themselves in the diverse cultures of each country they traverse. From unique local activities to meeting residents along the way, their journey is as much about human connection as it is about travel. The series highlights spectacular scenery and some of the greatest driving roads in the world, offering viewers a front-row seat to places they might never visit themselves.

Boorman reflected on the cultural experiences, saying, 'Every stop teaches us something new, whether it's a local dish or a hidden trail.' Their route showcases the beauty of Europe and Scandinavia, with the Arctic Circle serving as a breathtaking midpoint. Executive produced by McGregor and Boorman alongside David Alexanian and Russ Malkin, who also direct, the series ensures an authentic portrayal of their encounters.

A Legacy of Motorcycle Adventures

This latest installment adds to the duo's storied history of motorcycle expeditions documented in previous series like 'Long Way Round,' 'Long Way Down,' and 'Long Way Up.' Since their first journey in 2004, which took them 19,000 miles from London to New York City through 12 countries, McGregor and Boorman have inspired countless fans with their daring spirit. 'Long Way Home,' released on May 9, continues this legacy with a focus on vintage bikes and a deeply personal route starting from McGregor's homeland.

Their adventures resonate with audiences worldwide, as seen in posts on X where fans express admiration for their enduring friendship and bold travels. With each series, McGregor and Boorman prove that the road less traveled often leads to the most unforgettable stories. As McGregor aptly put it, 'There's no place like home, but getting there the long way is magic.'
